How Year Groups and Classes are organised
The Lower School comprises years 3 and 4, whilst years 5 and 6 form the Upper School. The Lower and Upper schools each have 5 classes, with the children divided into classes (for morning registration and afternoons) according to chronological age as below:
Class 1 | Youngest Year 3 | Class 6 | Youngest Year 5 |
Class 2 | Middle Year 3 | Class 7 | Middle Year 5 |
Class 3 | {Oldest Year 3 {Youngest Year 4 | Class 8 | {Oldest Year 5 {Youngest Year 6 |
Class 4 | Middle Year 4 | Class 9 | Middle Year 6 |
Class 5 | Oldest Year 4 | Class 10 | Oldest Year 6 |
The children work in their own year groups for English and Maths every morning. All year groups are set by ability for Maths. For English, there are two groups of similar ability and a small 'support' group.
