The School Nurse
The School Nurse, Teresa O'Dowdall, now holds drop-in sessions at the school. These are scheduled to take place once a term, but the frequency may increase if there is a demand.
The role of the School Nurse is to provide a link between the NHS, schools, children and parents, and takes over from the role of the Health Visitor, who provides the service until children are five.
Teresa is available to children, parents/carers and teachers, and offers a confidential advice and information service on any health issue. She can undertake basic hearing tests, height/weight assessments and basic vision screening, and can make referrals to appropriate NHS services as required.
No appointment is necessary, and the date of her next visit will be posted on this page as soon as it has been arranged. The sessions will be held in the school library.
