St. Thomas prides itself on the breadth and quality of the physical education it provides, and this is borne out by the consistently high standard of achievement that the pupils maintain in sports competitions, with successes last year for football, (boys and girls), swimming, basketball, cricket, cross-country and rounders teams.
A tour of the sports facilities shows why. The school has two large playgrounds, set out as netball courts, with netball rings and basketball hoops available at all times. |

The all-weather-pitch was built two years ago, and has been a huge asset to the PE staff. It has enabled outdoor PE and games to continue all year round, and is also used for the school teams' training sessions. |
|
As well as break and lunchtime play, the children participate in outdoor games at least once a week. The playgrounds and the all-weather-pitch are used during the bad weather months, but for most of the year we are able to use the excellent school grass sports fields. |

One area of the school grounds has been converted more recently to an adventure trail with a range of physical challenges. Each year group has access to the trail at least one day a week during their breaks. |
